Despicable Me 2 is the computer animated sequel to the highly successful Despicable Me. It features the voices of Steve Carrell (Little Miss Sunshine), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), and Benjamin Bratt (Thumbsucker).
Gru and the Minions are back in this silly and somewhat crude action adventure. Gru (Carrell) has continued his path to recovery as a former villain and is focused on being a good father of three adopted girls. Gru gets recruited by the Anti-Villian League (AVL) and along with many more Minions and Lucy (Wiig), a top secret spy for the AVL, he sets out to save the world from a villain who has stolen the serum that turn anything it touches into a monster.
The 3D animation in this movie was excellent. I would definitely recommend watching this movie in 3D, especially during the credits. The best thing about this movie Gru's little yellow gibberish speaking Minions. They are almost always guaranteed for a laugh and the kids will absolutely love them.
Although, I didn't like this movie as much as I did the first one, it is my favorite animated flick of the summer. I enjoyed the slapstick comedy provided by the Minions. Plus, I don't get offended by random flatulence jokes. The only real problem I had with this movie other than a tired plot was the heartfelt moments that the first one had were lost in part two and pretty much replaced by Minions. Which isn't too bad. They add to the comedy and you'll laugh throughout the movie. There's a lot of fun for the kids and plenty of subtle adult humor for mom and dad.
