TERESA'S TABLOID TRASH 4/25/14

Justin Bieber is free to roam again after nearly four hours of questioning at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday.  The 20-year-old was returning to the U.S. after spending the past week in Japan with friends and family when he was detained. The singer has racked up a number of charges in recent months, and TMZ notes that it's standard procedure for a person with so many open criminal cases to be held before re-entering the country.  The "Los Angeles Times" also adds that the hold-up at LAX isn't considered a formal detention or arrest.

Meanwhile…Justin Bieber's DUI trial is being pushed back until July. A Miami judge has reportedly agreed to the request made by the pop star's attorneys to delay the trial that was originally scheduled to begin next month

More than a week after being hospitalized here in KC because of a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics and then moved to an undisclosed location…Miley Cyrus is out of the hospital and preparing for the European leg of her tour which starts in May.

Avril Lavigne is addressing the backlash over her new video for "Hello Kitty."  The video was met with negative reviews, with some critics even calling her racist for using a group of expressionless Japanese women as her backup dancers.  While Avril doesn't seem to mind the reviews, she is taking issue with criticism that she used the women as props.  In a Facebook post, she says she shot the video in Tokyo because she wanted to create something "specifically for [her] Japanese fans."  The singer adds that she splits her time between Tokyo and the U.S., and that the video was put together "with [her] Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director."   "Hello Kitty" is the fourth single off Avril's most recent fifth studio album.

Meg Ryan will tell the story of "How I Met Your Dad."  Ryan has been cast as the narrator for the upcoming spin-off for the just-wrapped CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother."  According to "Entertainment Weekly," like Bob Saget did for "Mother," Ryan's voice over role will plot the details of the life of "Dad's" main character Sally.

NBC has tapped Seth Meyers to serve as emcee at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on August 25th. Seth already has a little award show experience after hosting ESPN's Espys in 2010 and 2011.

The title of the next "Hobbit" movie is undergoing a name change.  Director Peter Jackson announced via Facebook Thursday that the third film in the franchise, previously titled "The Hobbit: There and Back Again," will now be known as "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies."  Jackson said after viewing the movie last week, they all agreed that the new title is the one that's "completely appropriate."  He also said fans of the film's original title may see it "used on a future box set of all three movies."  "The Battle of the Five Armies" is the third and final film in Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" prequel trilogy.  The film is due to arrive in theaters on December 17th.
