CBS didn't waste any time in announcing DAVID LETTERMAN'S replacement.  STEPHEN COLBERT will take over "The Late Show" sometime next year, although there's no specific timetable yet.
While wishing him the best in his move to network television, Comedy Central said Thursday the comedian's political satire series, "The Colbert Report" would end in eight months.  Colbert is also parting ways with his ultra right wing talk show host character from the series.  He tells "The New York Times" he won't be doing the "Late Show" in character, so everyone will get to find out how much of the character was actually him. There's still no word on Comedy Central's plans, if any, to replace "The Colbert Report."
It was just announced that Drake is going to host this year's ESPY awards, which won't air until July.

Music fans will be flocking to the desert this weekend.  The sold-out Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is taking over the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, starting today with a lineup of artists led by the recently-reunited OutKast.  Muse and Arcade Fire are set to headline Saturday and Sunday night, respectively, while the fest's multiple stages will also include performances from Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, the Replacements, Skrillex, Lorde, and more.  Anyone who can't make it out to Indio can catch many of this weekend's sets streaming live at

Ed Sheeran is set to introduce his new music to American fans in a big way this weekend - as the musical guest on "Saturday Night  Live."  He'll perform on the NBC sketch show, days after dropping his latest single.  It will be Ed's first time dropping by "SNL," and also his first time playing the new Pharrell Williams-produced track "Sing" on television.  The Grammy-nominated Brit will be joining host Seth Rogen for the episode.  The appearance also comes ahead of the release of Ed's much-anticipated next album "Multiply," which drops on June 23rd.
