The Producers Guild of America couldn't decide which movie it liked best this year -- "12 Years a Slave" or "Gravity." The PGA handed out its annual awards Sunday night, and in an unprecedented move the top honor went to the teams behind both films. This marked the first tie in the Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures category in the 25-year history of the Producers Guild Awards, and also shook up this year's awards season.
MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY'S acceptance speech at the "Screen Actors Guild Awards" went to some weird places, including him talking about taking a spaceship to Neptune and escaping from Russia on a handmade boat.
The cast of "Modern Family" won for best TV ensemble. And they thought it would be funny to let Sofia Vergara accept the award, because her English isn't great. They got what they wanted, because in the middle of the speech she thanked HER OWN BREASTS.
Drake is scoring big for NBC's "Saturday Night Live." the sketch comedy show was the top rated program Saturday night, and also tied for the third best "SNL" showing this season. As both host and musical guest, Drake was able to show off his acting chops.
Lots of controversy in the last few days...
MADONNA posted a photo of her 13-year-old son Rocco on Instagram. In the caption, she playfully called him the N-word. When Madonna came to her senses, she apologized: Quote, "I'm sorry if I offended anyone . . . it was used as a term of endearment toward my son, who's white."
ABC is distancing itself from anti-gay remarks made by current "Bachelor" star Juan Pablo. In a statement released Saturday, the network called his comments "careless, thoughtles, and insensitive." ABC did not, however, say if there would be any disciplinary action. The 32-year-old retired soccer pro and single father also posted an apology on Facebook a day after he told a reporter that gays were "more pervert" and that an LGBT contestant on "The Bachelor" would be "too much."
Galavis, an American-born Venezuelan, explained in his statement that "English is his second language" and that he sometimes uses the wrong words to express himself. He said he meant to say that gay people are more affectionate and intense and that for a segment of the TV audience this would be "too racy to accept." Juan Pablo added that he never meant to disrespect anyone. "The Bachelor" airs Monday nights on ABC.
Over the weekend, LIAM PAYNE of ONE DIRECTION Tweeted some love to WILLIE ROBERTSON of "Duck Dynasty". He said, quote, "Huge love to you [and] your family . . . and the family values you still all behold. Big fan."
Some people thought this meant Liam was DEFENDING PHIL ROBERTSON'Scontroversial comments last month . . . but he angrily DENIED that. He Tweeted, quote, "Being a fan of someone's show and the way they still hold a family together doesn't mean I am OK with all they say."
Will Smith will help kick off Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" debut next month. NBC has announced that the actor and rapper will join members of the rock band U2 as the first guests for the premiere of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on February 17th. Jay Leno will wrap up his final week at "The Tonight Show" helm on February 6th. Jay's final show will feature Billy Crystal as the guest with Garth Brooks as the musical guest. "Late Night with Seth Meyers" is scheduled to debut February 24th on NBC. His first guest will be his former SNL co star, Amy Poehler.
Actress LAURA LINNEY from "Mystic River" and "The Big C" gave birth to a baby boy last Wednesday. He's the first child for Laura and her husband Marc. They named him Bennett Armistead. Laura is 49 YEARS OLD.
The ICE CUBE-KEVIN HART cop comedy "Ride Along" just had the best January debut EVER, earning $41.2 million at the box office this weekend. The computer animated kids movie "The Nut Job" took 3rd place with $20.6 million . . . "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" made $17.2 million at #4 . . . and the low-budget horror movie "Devil's Due" made $8.5 million in 7th place.
His sister stated to some fans later that Liam was just catching up on the TV world of the past 3yrs and he had just seen an episode of Duck Dynasty when he tweeted that, having NO idea about Phil's statement homosexualality.
