Mike Nichols is dead. The legendary director of film, theater and television died suddenly Wednesday at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, ABC news anchor Diane Sawyer, three children and four grandchildren. Nichols was one of the few in the entertainment industry to win all four major awards -- an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. He is probably best known for his film work, as director of such classic films as "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "The Graduate," for which he won an Oscar.

TV Land has also pulled "The Cosby Show" out of its programming lineup and removed references to the show from its website.

All signs are pointing toward another number one album for British boy band One Direction. Early projections are suggesting that the group's fourth studio album could sell 420-thousand copies in its first week out.

Meanwhile…One Direction member Zayn is defending himself against allegations of substance abuse. The singer was absent from the boy band's "Today" show appearance Monday, leading host Matt Lauer to question Zayn's bandmates.

Zayn says he's "really angry and upset by what was said." He insists he had been "really ill" over the weekend and was unable to fly to America with the rest of the boys to kick off the album's release week. He says he'll be rejoining the promo tour as soon as he's back to good health.
