The Conjuring stars Patrick Wilson (Morning Glory) and Vera Farmiga (The Departed). It is a horror thriller based on a true story that takes place in the early 1970's. It's about a family who seeks out the assistance from two expert "Demonologists" in order to save relieve themselves from an evil spirit trying to possess and kill the family.
To be honest, I'm not a horror movie fan. However, if a film is well made, I don't care what genre it is and The Conjuring is scary awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed it! The intensity slowly builds throughout the first part of the movie and even though it's a bit slow, it's very interesting. As the story progresses the payoff gets bigger and bigger and by the end of the film, I was so freaked out that I couldn't hardly stay in my seat.
The story was well written and timed nearly perfectly. The acting was great. There was good comic relief and plenty of scary and jumpy moments throughout the entire movie. If you like horror movies, don't miss this one. It's not the most original movie in the world, but it's very well executed and is a lot of fun.
