TERESA'S TABLOID TRASH 3/12/14

True Detective has been the breakaway TV hit of 2014.  Audiences were no doubt bummed when Matthew McConaughey broke the news that he and his co-star/best buddy Woody would not be returning for Season 2 — instead, the series will focus on a completely different case, with new detectives.  It has to be an A list star because of the show’s popularity.  No casting decisions have been made but some Hollywood insiders say that Brad Pitt is high on the list. Hollywoodlife.com says “Brad’s name has come up many times, it’s just a matter of what his other commitments are.”

Technically the show has not officially been renewed by HBO.  The show’s creator, Nic Pizzalotto says Season two will be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system,” He also signaled that the show is leaving his home state of Louisiana.

Woody Harrelson worked with HBO before True Detective.  In 2012 he was in Baltimore filming a movie and apparently he liked The Inn at the Black Olive in Fells Point so much while staying there that he offered to step in when the hotel slipped into foreclosure. Harrelson is a 50-50 partner with a local venture capitalist.

ROLLING STONES guitarist KEITH RICHARDS is writing a CHILDREN'S picture book called "Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar". It's coming out on September 9th.

May 5th is the new trial date scheduled for Justin Bieber's Miami DUI case. A hearing on Monday determined that no plea offer was made for the 20-year-old, who has pleaded not guilty. Justin is being charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and using an invalid driver's license. They stem from the January 23rd incident in Miami Beach, where he was arrested behind the wheel of a rented sports car and found with marijuana and Xanax in his system.

Kim Kardashian's Mercedes SUV may be a little worse for wear but the reality TV star is fully intact after a fender bender on Sunset Boulevard Tuesday in Los Angeles. TMZ.com says there were no distractions like paparazzi involved, just a wrong maneuver from another driver, according to eyewitnesses. Kardashian reportedly exchanged numbers and even gave the driver a hug. No one was ticketed.

The success of Disney's "Frozen" soundtrack could mean big business for Idina Menzel's latest Broadway venture. The "Let It Go" singer stars in the new musical "If/Then," which "Broadway League" says earned 909-thousand-dollars in its first week of previews alone. It's a strong start, particularly for an original production. "If/Then" is Idina's first major Broadway role in almost a decade. She earned a Tony Award for playing the lead Elphaba in the original cast of "Wicked."

Previews for "If/Then" started on March 5th, two days after John Travolta was widely criticized for mispronouncing Idina's name during the Oscars telecast. The musical even referenced the gaffe in their promotional material on Twitter, using a poster with the tagline "You know her name."

Star Trek actor, Chris Pine is facing a charge for allegedly drink-driving while in New Zealand. He was stopped by police apparently after leaving  a wrap party on March 1. He has been charged with driving with excess blood alcohol and will appear in Court on Monday 17 March.

"The Voice" beat "American Idol" by five million viewers last week. "The Big Bang Theory" was the week's most-watched show, and ABC's "Resurrection" premiered in the Top 10 with 13.9 million viewers.
