The voice that introduced the cast of "Saturday Night Live" for nearly four decades has gone silent. NBC officials confirmed that legendary announcer Don Pardo passed away Monday at the age of 96. He was the voice of game shows like "The Price is Right" and "Jeopardy" before he signed on as the announcer for NBC's "SNL" in 1975. He helped open the iconic sketch comedy show for all but one of its 39 seasons. Pardo was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame in 2010.

Author J.K. Rowling is expanding the Harry Potter universe once again. Rowling has penned a new short story on her Pottermore website, this one revolving around a character whose name is mentioned just three times throughout the entire series. Celestina Warbeck is a singer whose lyrics cropped up in Chapter 16 of "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince." Celestina's story can be found in the "Floo Powder Room" on

Taylor Swift is delivering on her promise for big news. During her Monday Yahoo! live stream, she announced that her new album, titled "1989," will be released on October 27th. She also debuted the music video for her brand new single called "Shake It Off."

The "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" phenomenon finally caught on with celebrities over the weekend . . . in a major way. A ton of them did it, including: Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Steven Spielberg, Oprah and even 86-year-old Ethel Kennedy.

Christina Aguilera is welcoming a baby girl to the family. "Us Weekly" confirms that the pop star gave birth to her second child on Saturday in Los Angeles. She reportedly gave birth by C-section at Ceders-Sinai Medical Center. The 33-year-old is already mother to six-year-old son Max.

ELIZABETH VARGAS from ABC News is back in rehab.

DENZEL WASHINGTON reportedly partied so hard during a vacation with his wife last month that he had to DETOX when he got home. A so-called "source" says it wasn't just the booze he needed to get over. He had all manner of toxins cleansed from his system. However, Today, his publicist tells ET, "He does this health cleanse every time he's about to go back to work and start his conditioning and nutritional program. Always cleans up after the family vacation in prep for work. Nothing new."

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" remains the top film, while "Guardians of the Galaxy" continues to hold the number two spot. The highest debut is "Let's Be Cops" at number three, followed by two other new movies, "The Expendables 3," and "The Giver."

Taylor Swift will host a special livestream via Yahoo! Today starting at 4:00 P.M. Kansas City time. She'll be in New York City for the online event. Swift has not said what she intends to reveal during the livestream.

ROBIN WILLIAMS' widow revealed that he had early-stage Parkinson's disease when he died, but he was, quote, "not yet ready to share [it] publicly." Michael J. Fox says he was "stunned" to learn that Robin Williams was also battling Parkinson's Disease at the time of the death.

Meanwhile, Robin's rep said he was NOT having financial problems . . . adding, quote, "We should be blessed to have Robin's financial status."

In a related story…Twitter is evaluating its policies regarding anonymous abuse after Robin Williams' 25-year-old daughter Zelda deleted her account this week, saying some users were sending her disturbing tweets and Photoshopped images of her father. Twitter's vice president of trust and safety Del Harvey released a statement to CNN saying they "will not tolerate abuse of this nature" and took measures by suspending the multiple accounts targeting Williams' grieving daughter. The site adds that it is in the process of reviewing how it can further improve its rules to "better handle tragic situations," and specifically "improving support for family members of deceased users."

There's a changing of the guard at NBC's "Meet The Press." Host David Gregory is leaving the show - and NBC altogether. NBC News chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd has reportedly been tapped to replace Gregory as moderator of the Sunday morning political talk show.

ROBIN WILLIAMS' 25-year-old daughter ZELDA quit Twitter and Instagram after IDIOTS started trolling her by posting rude messages about her dad.

Celine Dion is putting her career on hold as husband Rene Angelil ratchets up his fight against cancer and as she battles health issues of her own. A statement on the singer's website says Dion has removed her Las Vegas residency shows and her plans to tour Asia in the fall from her schedule. Dion has been suffering from inflammation in her throat muscles and has not been able to perform any of her scheduled shows at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace since July 29th. Rene underwent surgery last December to remove a cancerous tumor from his throat. In June, he stepped down from his role as his wife's manager due to the illness.

Gwyneth Paltrow has reportedly found a new beau. "Us Weekly" reports that the 41-year-old actress is being linked to Brad Falchuk, the co-creator of Fox musical comedy "Glee." A source tells the site that the two met back in 2010 when Gwyneth started as a recurring guest star on the show, but they started exploring a romantic relationship last month -- after her separation from husband Chris Martin in March. Gwyneth and Brad were spotted dining out in Los Angeles and they reportedly vacationed together at a Utah resort.

Welcome to the world, Vale Guthrie Feldman! Savannah Guthrie gave birth on Wednesday, Aug. 13, welcoming a baby daughter with her husband Michael Feldman. This is the first child for the Today show anchor, 42.

JUSTIN BIEBER reached a plea deal in his Miami DUI case that'll keep him out of jail. He has to take a 12-hour ANGER MANAGEMENT course. And he also has to meet people who've been affected by drunk drivers, make a $50,000 charitable donation and pay fines.

Martin Lawrence is updating fans on the possibility of a third installment of his "Bad Boys" movie series. On "Conan," Martin revealed that producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently brought him up to date on the early progress of the film. Meantime, Martin has made his way back to television with the FX sitcom "Partners." Which he co-stars in with Kelsey Grammer.

Authorities are releasing more details about the suicide of award-winning actor Robin Williams. The Marin County, California Sheriff's Office says the coroner's preliminary finding is that the 63-year-old Williams died from "asphyxia due to hanging." A personal assistant found Williams' body in his bedroom with a belt around his neck on Monday.

Legendary film and stage star Lauren Bacall is dead. A family member says the 89-year-old actress died Tuesday after suffering a stroke. Known for her sultry looks and husky voice, Bacall starred in several 1940s movies with fellow screen legend and husband Humphrey Bogart in films such as "To Have and Have Not," "The Big Sleep," "Dark Passage" and "Key Largo."

Norman Reedus of Walking Dead Fame, will star in the next installment of the Silent Hill video game series.

Production is finally underway on the N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" and the cast survived a very real and terrifying incident last week, when a drive-by shooting reportedly occurred near the set. According to TMZ, the crew was filming outside of the Compton Courthouse in Los Angeles, when gunmen in a car opened fire nearby. They were apparently aiming at neighborhood residents near the set who were flashing gang signs at them. None of the cast was hurt, but one civilian was reportedly hit and survived the shooting. Filming for "Straight Outta Compton" is expected to continue in another Compton location this week.

Robin Williams' shocking death is drawing mountains of praise for the award-winning actor and comedian. The 63-year-old Williams died of a suspected suicide at his home in the San Francisco Bay area on Monday. President Obama called Williams "one of a kind."

His rep said he'd been battling "severe depression". Williams also battled drug and alcohol addiction for years. Earlier this year he checked into rehab to "fine-tune" his sobriety. Williams shot to fame in the late 1970s playing alien Mork on the TV sitcom "Mork & Mindy" and some of his best-known films include "Good Morning Vietnam," "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Good Will Hunting" for which he won an Oscar.

Patti LaBelle has signed on for the next installment of "American Horror Story." The fourth season of the FX series is subtitled "Freak Show," and is set in the 1950s in Jupiter, Florida. Actress Jessica Lange stars as the manager of one of the last freak shows in the U.S. LaBelle will be featured in four episodes.

Ariana Grande and the film "The Fault in Our Stars" are among the big winners at this year's Teen Choice Awards. "The Fault in Our Stars" grabbed the surfboard for Choice Movie: Drama, while the film's star Ansel Elgort took home awards for Choice Movie Actor: Drama and Choice Movie Breakout Star. Elgort also shared the Choice Movie Chemistry surfboard with his "The Fault In Our Stars" co-stars Shailene Woodley and Nat Wolff. Meantime, Ariana Grande won for Choice Female Artist over some of the most powerful women in music, including Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. She also won Choice Single Female Artist for her hit "Problem." Among the other winners were Demi Lovato's song "Really Don't Care" for Choice Summer Song, Kevin Hart for Choice Movie Actor: Comedy, and Donald Sutherland for Choice Movie Villain.

"Hercules" star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is urging others to hug their families a little tighter after a horrible accident involving his mother and cousin last week. Luckily both survived the wreck but it could have been a lot worse. An Instagram photo posted Saturday showed what was left of two wrecked cars. The Rock revealed that his mother and cousin were struck head on by a drunk driver.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" easily took the top spot at the box office this weekend, bringing in $65 million.

"Into The Storm" debuted at #3 with $18 million . . . HELEN MIRREN'S "Hundred-Foot Journey" was at #4 with $11.1 million . . . and "Step Up All In" had the worst debut of any movie in the series, earning just $6.6 million in 6th place.

Yesterday was the last day on "The View" for Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. They'll be on today's and Monday's episodes, but those were pre-taped.

Absent from Thursday's season finale was Whoopi Goldberg. Sources tell "The Wrap" that the surviving co-host was busy on a different closed set with returning co-host Rosie O'Donnell. They were reportedly sitting down for chemistry tests with a list of women being vetted for the open seats. Among the candidates on a short list are two women with ties to former NFL star and KC Chief, Tony Gonzalez. Entertainment reporter, Lauren Sanchez is the mother of Tony's 13 year old son and also up for the gig is Tony's current wife, October Gonzalez.

Right now, CNN's Sunny Hostin is the front runner.

George Clooney and his fiancée Amal Alamuddin have obtained a marriage license in London. In accordance with UK laws, a notice posted briefly outside of Chelsea Old Town Hall, apparently stated that the wedding would take place in Italy, although the "where" and "when" in Italy remains a mystery.

Netflix is locking in a fifth season of "Arrested Development." But won't say when the new season will begin streaming.

There's a new petition on, asking that "WEIRD AL" YANKOVIC headline this year's Super Bowl halftime show. As of late last night, it had over 43,000 signatures. The petition floats this idea, which is actually pretty great: Weird Al could perform . . . alongside the people he's parodying.

Weird Al's latest album "Mandatory Fun" became his first ever to reach number one on Billboard's album charts after its release last month.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS and his giant hats made "Vanity Fair's" International Best-Dressed List. As did Neil Patrick Harris, Lupita Nyong'o, Cate Blanchett and Emma Watson.

15-year-old CASSIDY STAY lost her parents and four siblings when they were murdered by an uncle. After she quoted Professor Dumbledore from a "Harry Potter" book at the memorial service, author J.K. ROWLING sent her a handwritten letter from Dumbledore and other gifts.

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER posted a photo on Instagram, revealing that the new "Terminator" movie will be called "Terminator: Genisys". It's spelled G-E-N-I-S-Y-S for some reason.
