ADULTS ONLY: posted by Rocket

A newly-opened restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia claims its 18-and-up policy is a hit. Several months ago, The Sushi Place announced they would not allow children, since there seemed to be a lack of adults-only dining options in the neighborhood. It’s hardly the first time the kids-in-restaurants debate has made headlines, and it’s a controversial issue on both sides. But the owners of The Sushi Place say response has been great so far and they’ve had a packed house ever since their grand opening a few weeks ago. As they put it, “We by no means hate children or think they don't belong in restaurants. They just don't belong in this particular one.” What do you think about this restaurant’s no-kids-allowed policy? Do you think kids belong in restaurants? Does it depend on the restaurant? Do you bring your kids to restaurants?

Khloe Kardashian Says Her New Niece Is an Indescribable "Miracle"

Neither KIM KARDASHIAN nor KANYE WEST have commented since their daughter's birth on Saturday . . . but some of Kim's annoying family members have. Here's the rundown: Her mom KRIS JENNER Tweeted, quote, "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, Kanye!!!!!!" (She also linked to this collage, which features photos of Kanye, Lamar Odom, Scott Disick, Bruce Jenner and the late Robert Kardashian.) She also said, quote, "God is so amazing!!! Jesus loves the little children." (It would've been funny if she would've called Kanye "Yeezus" . . . you know, his "god name." But maybe she's too religious to find humor in that.) (???) KHLOE KARDASHIAN Tweeted, quote, "I cannot even begin to describe the miracle that is now a part of our family. Mommy [and] baby are healthy and resting. We appreciate all of the love. More info will come when the time is right!"

The Top 20 Bare Necessities of Modern Life

An Internet connection came in first . . . television came in second . . . and a good best friend came in fourth. Those all did better than a SOLID MARRIAGE, which only ranked ninth, below stuff like showers and central heating. Here's the full list, in order . . . 1. An internet connection. 2. Television. 3. Cuddling. Yep, seriously. 4. A trustworthy best friend. 5. Daily showers. 6. Central heating. 7. A cup of tea. (It's a British survey. They ranked coffee 12th. Let's assume if this was an American survey coffee would be up here and tea would be nowhere to be found. And AC might replace central heating.) 8. Saying "I love you" once in a while. 9. A solid marriage. 10. A car. 11. Glasses. 12. Coffee. 13. Chocolate. 14. A night in on the couch. 15. A glass of wine. 16. A good cry once in a while. 17. A big breakfast. 18. A nice vacation. 19. An iPhone. 20. Beer.

Men Aren't Fully Mature Until Age 43: posted by Rocket

A new study has found that the average man doesn't become fully emotionally mature until age 43

. And that's WAY later than women. Women are mature at age 32 . . . a full 11 years earlier

. About EIGHT out of 10 women surveyed say they don't think men EVER get mature

. And they also RANKED the most immature things guys do. Here's the top 15 . . . 1. Finding it HILARIOUS when they burp or pass gas. 2. Eating fast food at 2:00 A.M. 3. Playing video games. 4. Driving too fast. 5. Laughing at swear words. 6. Playing loud music when they drive. 7. Playing practical jokes. 8. Trying too hard to beat kids at games and sports. 9. Staying quiet during arguments. 10. Not being able to cook simple meals. 11. Re-telling the same stupid jokes and stories when they're with their guy friends. 12. Not wanting to talk about themselves. 13. Hating books, because they think they're "boring" or because they have a short attention span. 14. Doing crazy dance moves. 15. Letting their mom do their laundry.

Father's Day is this Sunday

FULL STORY: Father's Day is this Sunday . . . but apparently not that many people know it. According to a new study, people are MUCH less invested in Father's Day than Mother's Day. The study found that there are 215% more searches online for Mother's Day gifts and gift ideas than for Father's Day gifts and gift ideas. So WHY do people put so much more effort into Mother's Day than Father's Day? The top two answers are that mothers are, quote, "more deserving" of a big gift . . . and that fathers would be happier to settle for something smaller. (Scotsman)

A Park in Chicago Put Up Signs Telling Parents to Chill Out While Watching Their

Parks in a suburb of Chicago called Buffalo Grove, Illinois have put up signs reminding parents not to be JERKS when they're watching their kids play sports. But they use humor, so no one gets offended. Here's what the signs say: "This is a GAME being played by CHILDREN . . . if they win or lose every game, it will not affect what college they attend or their future income potential." "Of the hundreds of thousands of children who have ever played youth sports in Buffalo Grove, very few have gone on to play professionally. It is highly unlikely that any college recruiters or professional scouts are watching these games." "So, let's keep it all about having fun and being pressure-free. Referees umpires and officials are human and make mistakes, just like players, coaches and you." "No one shouts at you in front of other people when you make a mistake, so please don't yell at them. We do not have video replay; so, we will go with their calls."

Are We 10 Years Away From Being Able to Communicate With Our Pets?

FULL STORY: By 2023, your dog may be able to talk to you. And won't you be disappointed when it turns out he only likes you because you give him food . . . and occasionally let him smell other dogs' anuses. Con Slobodchikoff is a professor at Northern Arizona University, and he's been working on a device that can interpret prairie dog barks, and translate them into English. He says within 10 years, technology SHOULD reach the point where we'll be able to interpret what other animals are saying . . . including farm animals, wild animals, and even cats and dogs. This will go beyond just being able to find out if your dog is hungry or tired or filled with murderous rage toward the FedEx guy. Slobodchikoff says this could also save millions of dogs' lives. Quote, "Four million dogs are euthanized every year because of behavioral problems. Most problems are because of the lack of communication between animal and human. "If we had the chance to talk back and forth, the dog could say, 'You're scaring me.' And you could say, 'Well, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that I was scaring you. I'll give you more space."

You Start Turning Into Your Mother at Age 31

HIGHLIGHTS: According to a new survey, women start turning into their mother at age 31. Half of women said that in their early 30s, they started noticing they watched the same shows as their mother . . . used the same sayings . . . and liked the same type of men. And the main cause was . . . the birth of their first child.

FULL STORY: According to a new survey, women notice they're turning into their mother at age 31. More than HALF of women said that in their early 30s, they started using the same sayings as their moms . . . watched the same shows . . . had the same hobbies . . . and shared the same taste in men. And one in four said it happened at age 31. One in 20 women thought that they turned into their mother when they were in their 20s . . . and one in four said it happened in their late 30s. One in 10 said it didn't happen until after age 40. The women said the main cause for the transformation was the same thing that made THEIR mother who she was . . . having kids. One in three women said that they noticed they were becoming more like her after having kids of their own. And maybe the biggest surprise was that 51% of women said they were OKAY with becoming their mother.

What Do You Think?

On Saturday night, an 18-year-old girl in Washington was banned from her prom . . . and she says it's because her BREASTS ARE TOO BIG. She was wearing a strapless dress that showed some cleavage, and the school told her she couldn't come in. They finally let her in with a shawl covering everything up, but she left, saying it wasn't the same. Now she's asking for an apology.

At 60% of Fast Food Places, the Ice Has More Bacteria Than the Toilets

According to a study out of England . . . but one we're pretty sure would apply over here too . . . at 60% of fast food places, the ice in the ice machine contains more bacteria than the toilets. For the study, researchers swabbed the ice from their drinks and the toilets at McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC. And at about three of every five locations, the ice contained bacteria including things as serious as E. coli. The theory here is that the employees clean the bathrooms pretty regularly, but don't clean the ice machine so often. That leads to more bacteria building up in the ice machine than in the toilets. Now . . . this DOESN'T necessarily mean you'll get sicker from drinking the ice than drinking out of the toilet. But if you drink from enough cups with nasty fast food ice, you could run the risk of getting sick.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS: by MR Movies Wes Horner

Star Trek Into Darkness is J.J. Abrams' second installment into the reboot of the Star Trek series. It stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Zoe Saldana. In this film, the crew of the Enterprise embarks on a mission to track down a terrorist after a massive attack on Star Fleet. This film is amazing! It's non-stop action from start to end. Any brief lulls were filled with comedy and insights adding to the depth of the characters. The acting was great. I really like Chris Pines as the young Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto is great as Spock, but Benedict Cumberbatch takes the cake as the terrorist. He's a great actor and really added a lot to this film. The visual and special effects were fantastic and although, I don't think one would necessarily need to see this movie in 3D to enjoy it, I'd recommend it. I was simply blown away by how much fun I had watching this movie.I enjoyed J.J. Abrams' first Star Trek quite a bit, but in my opinion, this one topped it.Everyone will like this movie. Just go see it! I can easily give this film an "A".Best regards,

MIND GAMES :Candy Crush #1

It turns out playing video games won’t necessarily turn your brain to mush. In fact, it could be good for you! Research has found that playing computer games may help keep your brain sharp and prevent aging-related cognitive decline. In some cases, it may even reverse these effects. Other studies have shown a link between computer games and lower levels of depression. In related news, Candy Crush Saga has beat out Angry Birds as the most popular game on Facebook and mobile devices. More than 15 million people play Candy Crush on Facebook every day. Whether it’s making them smarter is yet to be seen. Do you play computer games? Which ones? Do you think games help keep your brain sharp? Do you play Candy Crush? What’s your favorite game to play on your mobile device?

42 starring Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford

I finally had a chance to see '42', the story of Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play major league baseball. It stars Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford.

This film isn't perfect by any means, but the story is so important and fascinating, it's a must see. I feel that what Robinson went through was probably much worse than what was portrayed on the screen, but it was nice to get an overview of how he became the legend he is today.

At times I wanted to jump out of my seat and scream for Jackie to take action against his persecutors, but the way he bridled his emotions and let his ability do the talking, was simply inspiring. I can only imagine the type of man he must have been.

Boseman, a newcomer to the big screen, was a good choice to play Jackie Robinson. He did a good job of encapsulating Robinson with his look and even how he ran and hit. I was also impressed by Harrison Ford's performance as Branch Rickey, the President of the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was refreshing to see Ford immerse himself into a role like he did in this movie.

I was truly inspired by this film and I believe anyone who watches it will like it. Go see it!!!

LOVE DON’T COST A THING (BUT DIVORCE DOES: by Rocket

LOVE DON’T COST A THING (BUT DIVORCE DOES) An over-the-top wedding could cost you more than just thousands of dollars. Many couples who celebrate their nuptials with extravagant events end up getting divorced- and citing the expense as a reason for their split. Eight out of 10 couples who divorce within five years after tying the knot blame the excessive cost of the wedding. Experts say that once the big day is past and reality sets in, the stress of paying off wedding debts can be hard on relationships. The only thing worse than blowing six figures on your wedding? Having to spend the same amount on a divorce attorney a few years later. What do you think of expensive, over-the-top weddings? How much did your wedding cost? How much is too much to spend on a wedding? Do you think financial pressures can put strain on relationships? FLIGHT RISK

The Great Gatsby - Review by Mr. Movies

THE GREAT GATSBY

The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton. It was directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet, Australia).

This film is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's famed novel The Great Gatsby. It is the story of Nick Carraway (Maguire), an aspiring writer, who moves to New York to work as a bondsman.  Nick becomes intrigued by his mysterious and wealthy neighbor, Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio). Gatsby invites Nick to one of his lavish parties in order to reconnect with Nick's cousin, Daisy Buchanan (Mulligan).

If you're a huge fan of the book and expect no liberties to be taken from the story, you will not be happy about this film.
That being said, if you want to see an all around great movie and have an open mind to Baz Luhrmann's style, you'll love this movie. The sets, the color, the cars, and the costumes were fantastic. I even liked how they mixed the modern music with the musical styles of the roaring twenties (which may be a turn off for some).

The acting was good all around, but Leonardo DiCaprio was great. He seems to get better with every role he plays and he was a wonderful fit for Gatsby.

This was a great love story, filled with romance, mystery, thrills and extravagance. At a run time of 142 minutes, I never felt like it was too long and in my opinion, it was paced perfectly.

I do feel like you will miss out if you don't see it in 3D. With the lavish colors and sets, it really makes you feel like you're there and I recommend spending a few extra bucks catch this one in 3D.

It's funny, I heard a lot of bad things about this film before I had a chance to see it, but as the movie progressed, I was hard pressed to find anything I didn't like about it. I enjoyed it from beginning to finish.

You will like this if you liked Moulin Rouge! or Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. On a side note, I do think it's geared towards a younger crowd. I give this movie an "A".

PIGGY BANK ROBBERS: by Rocket

PIGGY BANK ROBBERS Now this is just sad! Almost half of American parents admit to taking money from their children’s savings accounts- and more than 50% don’t even feel bad about it! Most people said they dipped into their kids’ savings to pay bills, but others used the dough for family vacations and gifts. Of the parents who claim they’ve never done such a thing, more than 30% said they’d consider it in the event of a medical emergency. And then there are the 46% of parents who have never stolen money from their kids’ accounts…because they haven’t even started accounts for their kids. We’re not sure what’s worse! Would you ever take money from your kids’ accounts? Under what circumstances? Have you ever done this? What did you use the money for?

JUST SO YOU KNOW A survey of 2,000 people in the UK revealed 50 things you must do in order to live life to the fullest. The list includes a wide variety of things like having a one-night stand, losing weight, starting a family, going bungee jumping, traveling and paying off debts. Of course, it’s easier said than done- 65% of people admit they don’t live life to the fullest because they can’t afford it, while almost 40% simply don’t have the time. Take two holidays a year 4. Enjoy little comforts in life 5. Experience different cultures 6. Work to live rather than live to work 7. Pay off all debts 8. Be true to yourself 9. Will.i.am's "#willpower" Reflects Lack of Creativity :by Emily Katz

While listening to Will.i.am's newest album, "#willpower," it took just that.. a great deal of will power... to get through each song.

I kept thinking, "maybe the next song will be better." That was not the case. The melodies and beats of the songs on this album all sound extremely similar.

Although I'm not a fan of this album, I will say that Will.i.am knows how to create a good beat.
What do you call 15 songs in a row that sound exactly the same? Will.i.am's newest album "#willpower"

Up Close & Personal with Hunter Hayes

When I first heard Hunter Hayes, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed his music. I'm not a big country music fan at all, so this is totally out of my element...but who can resist a catchy pop-country hook?!

Wednesday afternoon, I had the chance to see Hunter perform a short acoustic set at the Kill Devil Club. In between songs, he talked to fans and expressed his gratitude toward them each time. He seemed like a genuinely nice, humble, guy.

Hunter played three songs: "Somebody's Heartbreak," his first number one hit "Wanted," and his newest single, "I Want Crazy." He sounded just as good (if not better) live as he does recorded. With his wide vocal range, he hit each note flawlessly.

Check out the deluxe version of his debut album, "Hunter Hayes [Encore]," which includes all of the songs off the original album PLUS new music, available June 18th.

IRON MAN 3 by MR MOVIES

Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Guy Pearce, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Ben Kingsley. Shane Black has taken over as the director instead of Jon Favreau in this installment of the series.

This film starts out at a fairly slower pace than the previous two, but builds as it goes and keeps getting better and better.

In this one, Tony Stark (Downey Jr.) is called upon by the public to deal with a sinister terrorist who calls himself Mandarin (Kingsley). At the same time, Stark struggles with extreme anxiety attacks as he tries to deal with the recent events of saving mankind from the other worldly villains in The Avengers.

The acting was top notch. Robert Downey Jr. was great as always, and spends more time out of his Iron Man suit in this one than the previous two Iron Man films. Guy Pearce was a good addition to the series. He was a perfect villain and was fun to hate. Ben Kingsley, easily one of the greatest actors of our time, was amazing in this film. He will most definitely take you by surprise and his performance alone makes this movie worth seeing.

The action and special effects were great. The story, although slow at times, was interesting, had great comic relief and a big payoff at the end.

Go see this movie if you liked any of the other Marvel Comics movies such as Thor, The Avengers or the other two Iron Man movies. Whether or not you see it in 3D, you'll enjoy this one. I give this picture an "A-".

Also, be sure to stay all the way through the credits.

Your New Favorite Artist: Andrew McMahon

Today, Andrew McMahon released his debut solo EP, “The Pop Underground.” Now you’re probably thinking, “Who?!” Andrew McMahon fronted pop/punk band Something Corporate and piano/rock band Jack’s Mannequin. Still not ringing a bell? That’s probably because he has never had a radio hit with any of his musical projects. But don’t let that fool you. This guy is the full package.

Despite no radio airplay, McMahon has had an extremely successful musical career and has gained an enormous fan base over the past decade through extensive worldwide touring and with music that appeals to a diverse audience. He also consistently puts on one of the most amazing live shows I’ve ever seen (more on that later).

I’m being completely honest when I say that there isn’t a song Andrew McMahon has written that I don’t enjoy, whether it be for Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin, or his solo music. This man is a brilliant songwriter, musician, and performer. His passion is heard through each song and each performance.

His solo EP, “The Pop Underground,” is now available on iTunes. He will be in Kansas City on June 21st with Allen Stone and O.A.R at The Crossroads. You don’t want to miss this show!

I’ll leave you with a sample of music from each of McMahon’s musical projects (Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin, & Andrew McMahon).

Pain & Gain movie review by Mr. Movie Wes Horner

Pain & Gain

"Pain & Gain" is true story of a gang of bodybuilders who kidnap a wealthy businessman in order to take all of his money and assets. It was directed by Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackie and Tony Shaloub.

Although the previews for this movie make it appear to be a fun and action packed comedy, I found it to be highly disturbing, anti-climactic, and frustrating. The fact that this film was based on a true story is disheartening, mainly from knowing the fact that people can be so stupid in real life.

The film started out pretty good, but as it progressed, it became more and more sickening and to be completely honest, I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Everyone in the film did a good job and Tony Shaloub was, in my opinion, the best thing about it. Unfortunately, good acting can't make up for a story like this one. The cinematography was strange with odd camera angles and shaky shots that made it difficult to see what was taking place at times.

I can't think of anyone to whom I would recommend this movie. I think maybe if you liked "Very Bad Things", you might like it (might).

I give this movie a "D". Which is disappointing as I thought it looked pretty good.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Contact me at:

This story is awesome! Listen to Mix 93.3 to win 1D and Money Free!

One Direction's North American summer tour may have just become a little more interesting. According to "The Mirror," the boys are reportedly looking to swap their swanky private jets for a customized version of Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine as they tour the U.S. Apparently, Harry, Niall, Zayn, Liam and Louis spent about 100-thousand dollars to buy an old Volkswagen camper "Mystery Machine" look-a-like that's currently at a shop in England in the process of being pimped out. The new van will reportedly include state-of-the-art plasma screen televisions, individual entertainment consoles and their trademark "1D" logo stamped on the sides.

A source tells the paper that the boys wanted to do something special for U.S. fans, but that it's still not a done deal. The "Mystery Machine" needs to be cleared by their management team, and if it's deemed too impractical to drive from city to city, it won't be used.
